Warm or at room temperature
Our honey madeleines have a soft, moist centre and a nostalgic honey flavour. Enjoy them warm for a comforting little bakery moment, or at room temperature as a snack. A short, gentle warm-up can bring back the soft centre when you are ready to enjoy one at home.
The damp-paper-towel microwave method
Our bakery’s serving tip is to warm a madeleine in the microwave with a wet paper towel. Dampen the towel and gently squeeze out excess water so it is moist rather than dripping. Use a microwave-safe paper towel and plate, then warm in short bursts, checking between them. Stop when the madeleine is warm; the time varies with your microwave and its starting temperature.
- Remove the madeleine from its packaging and place it on a microwave-safe plate.
- Lightly dampen a microwave-safe paper towel, squeeze out excess water, and loosely wrap or cover the madeleine.
- Microwave in short bursts, checking between them, until the madeleine is warm.
- Carefully remove the damp towel and enjoy the madeleine’s warm, soft centre.
A little care for the texture
Use gentle warming rather than prolonged heating. Check the madeleine as you go and stop once it is warm, to keep the centre soft. The microwave method focuses on warmth and softness; enjoy your madeleine with a favourite drink or alongside our Japanese cheesecake.
How can I warm an Uncle Tetsu honey madeleine at home?
Remove its packaging, loosely wrap or cover it with a damp microwave-safe paper towel, and warm it on a microwave-safe plate in short bursts. Check between bursts and stop when warm. Carefully remove the towel before eating.
